100% Napa Valley 97% Petite Sirah, 3% Petit Verdot Small production, limited quantities available. This is our fifth release of Spring Creek Vineyard Petite Sirah. Our Petite Sirah comes from a 4-acre vineyard located on St. Helena’s west side. We add 3 % Petit Verdot to this wine from the Thorevilos Vineyard located in Howell Mountain. Petit Verdot is a classic Bordeaux varietal that is concentrated, tannic and deeply colored, making it a nice grape to use for blending. We age our Petite Sirah 10 months in French and American oak barrels and further age the wine in bottle for 6 months. This is less aging time than our other red wines, which we feel helps to accentuate the bright fruit that is an important characteristic of this wine. Winemaker Notes: Intense ripe blackberry-raspberry characters typical to this variety are immediately evident. Also attractive are the added spicy aromas in the background with a hint of pleasant earthiness. Similar bright fruit is immediately enjoyed on the palate. Nice weight and balance in the mouth with a good degree of silkiness and a pleasant, clean finish makes this a wine to be enjoyed now upon release. |
